Collecting dolls by theme?

I started collecting ball-jointed dolls but now I think I want to add a variety. For one, the blythe dolls really look interesting for me! I'm curious if anyone here has a mix in their collection or if you just go collecting dolls by theme? Is there like a personal criteria you follow? I know I can make my own rules but I'm just curious if there are more people inclined to specialize or to diversify.

It's so easy to get pulled into the BJD world, but I must say Blythes are a whole different charm!
I totally get the urge to diversify. My own collection is a bit of a happy mess if we can call it like that!
I've got BJDs, a few Pullips, and yes, some Blythes too!!
For me, it's less about a strict theme and more about what genuinely sparks joy when I see it.
If a doll speaks to me, regardless of its type, I give it a home!!
I think a lot of collectors find themselves branching out eventually.
It just adds so much more dimension to the hobby.
Are you leaning towards other varieties besides Blythes?
