What does doll collector mean to you?

Lately, I've heard some people say they're doll collectors, and it’s got me thinking about what that label actually means because when I hear “doll collector,” my mind jumps to someone with shelves full of pristine barbies in their boxes or rows of delicate antique bisque dolls behind glass.
Myy own collection doesn’t quite fit that image though. It’s a mix of different styles, eras, and a few that are more for display than collecting in the traditional sense. So when someone uses that term, I’m never quite sure if it fits me or if their definition is just very different from mine
Thoughts anyone ?

Doll collector can cover a lot of ground actually. While some people focus on mint in box stuff, others go for vintage, customs, or just pieces they love. If you intentionally curate and care for them, that counts. I don't think there’s any one official version of the term if you ask me

I think "doll curator" would be a better fit, don't you think? if you have a mixed collection that you arrange and display artfully. You are curating a gallery of figures
