can we make a living from custom dolls?

I really like making custom dolls, and I've sold a few of them on Etsy. I'm not really serious about this because I have a full time job. I'm thinking, can we make a living from selling custom dolls if I do this full time? Does anyone here know someone who has successfully become a custom doll artist?

It's possible but tough. The artists I've seen make it work have strong social media presence and usually diversify cos they do commissions, limited editions, tutorials n stuff like that

@thec0llector, definitely possible, I've seen many doll artists who are successful, one of them is my friend. from what I see, she doesn't have just good skills, but also has a unique doll style.
if you're serious about this, I don't think you need to quit your job (at least for now). just build a strong social media first, like in YT, Insta, and TikTok, this is important for marketing and branding
don't forget to research the current demand and make a pricing strategy

If you checked out MyMeadow dolls there is a lady that charges up to $200 to do face-ups and body makeup on the new dolls. She usually has only 20 or 30 slots for each set of pre-orders. Of course these plain dolls from factory are about $500-$600 each. With factory make up about $585 - $685 or so and that's just the medium doll, the larger dolls are in the $1200 range. Smaller ones about $400 each.

Wow @Mary I didn't know prices where that high, its been a while I bought a new one, I mostly collect from others or take advantage of some sales

Of course. I see a lot of it gaining traction. Just really invest in marketing and finding the right audience. You got this.
