Bought my first American girl doll and now I understand the obsession

My niece has been asking for an American girl doll for months and I finally caved and got her one for her birthday. Got the truly me line so she could pick features that looked like her. The thing arrived last week and I have to admit, I get it now. The quality is actually really impressive compared to regular dolls.

Now she's already asking about historical characters and showing me catalogs with all the accessories. I can see how this becomes an expensive hobby real fast. For those of you who collect these or buy them, how do you pace it out? Do you set limits on how many they can have or just let it happen? I may slowly be getting initiated into this lol and that's actually why I joined, I don't have a dolls collection myself

Oh I love the AG's I have probably bought 5 this year. Some of these I already had. The doll on the right is the new little sister.
My youngest daughter and granddaughters got me started on the AG dolls.
Which one does your nice have?
And I started my youngest daughter off with an original Plesant Company AG doll. Felicity. And these dolls are good to sew for if you like sewing.
