I’ve officially crossed into uncharted doll accessory territory. I’ve been on a mission to find a 1:6 scale vintage style dentist’s chair. Not just any chair, I wanted the whole dramatic setup, I searched everywhere, even some very questionable overseas sites that promised whatever and it was just a plastic patio chair painted silver. So now, I’m resigned to making my own, I’ve got some wire, an old action figure stand, and a hot glue gun that’s seen better days. If all goes well, my dolls will either have the most impressive dental clinic in 1:6 history… or something that looks like a steampunk torture device haha
So over to you, what’s the weirdest, most oddly specific accessory you’ve ever hunted for (or ended up making? please tell me someone else has gone to these lengths for doll world accuracy.

@Beth.any23 oh, that dentist chair's gonna be epic! you know, I once spent a month hunting for a 1:12 scale miniature sourdough starter kit (the tiny jar, the mini bag of flour, the whole thing).
When I couldn't find a realistic one, I ended up filling a tiny glass bottle with glue mixed with sand to mimic the texture.
The things we do for tiny world accuracy! lol

That’s hilarious and honestly kind of impressive. 1:6 dentist’s chair is a deep cut even for dedicated collectors. I once tried making a tiny vintage typewriter from old watch parts and aluminum foil, it looked more like a toaster by the end. Curious though, what are you using for the chair upholstery?

I completely feel this! As someone into doll customs, I could already relate to the title of this thread!!
That vintage dentist chair is an epic level of commitment!
I have a feeling it'll be an impressive clinic centerpiece, not a steampunk torture device, especially with that level of determination!
I haven't gone quite as far as fabricating an entire accessory like that, but I totally relate to the extra effort.
For my custom dolls, I've spent an embarrassing amount of time just on finding the right texture.
I once spent three solid days aging a tiny piece of linen with tea, coffee, and sandpaper just to get the perfect moth-eaten look for a doll's historical overcoat lining.
It's totally hidden, but I know it's there. That's our level of detail, right?

@Beth.any23 amazing and surprisingly the steampunk torture device outcome might be even cooler than the original plan haha. Definitely post pics when you're done! and yeah, this thread is gonna be good. I need to hear what other weirdly specific things people have crafted

@m.anne.queen haha yes! three days on hidden lining is exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about, nobody else will ever see it but we know it's right and that's what matters.
The chair is coming along slower than I hoped because I keep second guessing the proportions. I've rebuilt the backrest twice already.
Love hearing about other people's obsessive detail work, makes me feel less crazy
