I'm not entirely sure if this is the right section. My daughter's outgrown her dolls but we're not ready to donate them yet so we need to put them in the attic for now. Space is tight and I want to make sure they stay in good condition without spending much money. I have some old blankets and towels that could work for wrapping but I'm not sure if fabric is better or worse than plastic materials. Should I be concerned about moths or other pests in fabric storage, and what's the best way to arrange them in boxes to prevent crushing?

Plastic is generally better than fabric for wrapping if you want to keep pests and moisture out.
Old blankets are fine for padding inside the box, but wrap the dolls individually in acid free tissue paper if you have it (to protect finishes) and then put them in plastic bags or, even better, airtight plastic bins.
Those bins are your best friend for pest and dust control in an attic, and they stack well to prevent crushing

Thanks, this helps a lot. I don't have acid free tissue paper on hand but I could probably get some online or at a craft store. Do you think regular zip bags are okay short term or should I hold off until I get the bins and tissue? I'm hoping to get everything packed up by next weekend before the attic gets too hot.
I've stored dolls in the attic before, wrapping them in old cotton blankets or towels works well, just make sure they're clean and dry. Fabric can attract pests, so a few cedar blocks or lavender sachets help. Stack carefully, heavier dolls on the bottom, and avoid squishing limbs or faces
I'll add cedar blocks or lavender sachets to the bins after I wrap everything up. For now, I'll use zip bags since I already have them, and I'll switch to acid-free tissue and bins after I visit the craft store this weekend. I'll make sure the blankets are clean and dry before packing and I'll sort the dolls by weight so nothing gets crushed. Would you recommend leaving a little space between each doll or packing them snug with padding?
